Soulfood Lounge delivered on every level: hot, flavorful food, attentive service, and an upscale atmosphere tucked away in the heart of Lawndale. With Dee returning for her fourth visit and even completing the full tasting menu on a previous trip, expectations were high, and the restaurant still exceeded them. From thoughtful touches like complimentary purse hangers to perfectly seasoned dishes and a memorable encounter with a very loyal husband, this visit proved that great food and great hospitality never go out of style.

A long-awaited visit to Lior's Café with my favorite dining partner delivered flavorful oxtails, perfectly seasoned red snapper, and an appetizer that disappeared almost as soon as it hit the table. But the biggest surprise wasn't on the menu. It was discovering a connection between my name and the history of the legendary Dahomey Amazons. Good food, good conversation, and an unexpected lesson in culture and heritage made this Southside gem worth the wait.
