Soulfood Lounge Review

May 13, 2026 we visited The Soulfood Lounge and at this point Dariayle might need a reserved parking spot and a loyalty card. This was her FOURTH visit. One of those visits she apparently went full Food Network judge and did the entire tasting menu. So when she says the food is good, understand this is backed by repeat scientific research.

The venue is cozy with an upscale vibe right in the middle of Lawndale. Definitely gives “grown and tasteful” energy without trying too hard. Food came out hot, service was amazing, and the atmosphere was a whole vibe.

I ordered the crab, Dariayle had the seafood dressing, (I will forever be impressed by a fried food with a crust that remains crispy when dressed with a sauce) and Catrice got the fried chicken. Every single thing was delicious and seasoned properly. Not a whisper of blandness anywhere in the building. Portions were big enough to share and STILL not miss a bite afterward. That’s how you know they did it right

BONUS POINTS: because the waitress noticed our handbags and immediately brought over purse hangers like we were somebody’s rich aunties at brunch in downtown Manhattan. Listen… customer service details matter.

Now let’s discuss Savannah’s husband for a second. Whoever husband was eating there Wednesday around 7 PM… ma’am, you have yourself a GOOD man. We tried to ask him how the food was and that man looked like he had intensive training in “Do Not Converse With Strange Women.” He answered politely, kept it short, and immediately returned his attention to tonsizingvhis bill and making the mad dash up out of that restaurant.

Needless to say, I would absolutely return for the food, the vibe, and the unexpected reminder that disciplined men still exist.
