Mojitos, Marco & That Magnificent Snapper
Mojitos, Snapper, and South Beach Swagger: Day drinking at Don Sombreros
Before we even touched the cruise ship, I had to find the restaurant that I visited a couple years ago when Miami said, “Let me show you a little something.” And oh, did it ever. Our crew of six landed on South Beach with good vibes, empty stomachs, and one mission: find flavor. Enter Don Sombreros—a colorful little spot that smelled like grilled heaven and promised the kind of time you don’t forget (or fully remember 😏).
First off, let’s talk about the star of the show: that red snapper. Honey. Crispy skin, juicy inside, seasoned like someone’s abuela put their entire soul into it. Served whole, eyes and all—this fish didn’t come to play. Each flaky bite was a love letter to the ocean!
Now let’s give a round of applause to Marco, our waiter with the million-dollar smile and a mojito-pouring hand blessed by the cocktail gods. Not only did he walk us through the menu like a seasoned foodie, but he made sure our drinks stayed flowing and our vibe stayed lifted. And yes—Marco, if you’re reading this—you are absolutely invited to the cookout.
Three rounds of margaritas, a couple mojitos (maybe more), and six full bellies later, we stumbled out of Don Sombreros laughing like old friends in a rom-com finale. Tipsy? Oh, absolutely. Satisfied? Beyond. Ready to board the cruise? Almost... but that fish might’ve just been the highlight of the whole trip.
So if you're ever in Miami pre-cruise and wondering where to get your life together (or fall deliciously apart), Don Sombreros is the move. And tell Marco we sent you. 😉
